Assessing the Risk of Violent Behaviour: Individual Client Risk & De-Escalation (VCHWBAEN0625)

Description
Starts SEPTEMBER 10 2025

Third webinar of the Workplace Violence Risk Assessment Series

Violence often arises during client interactions—making early recognition and intervention essential to protecting worker safety. Participants will be introduced to PSHSA’s Individual Client Risk Assessment Tool (VAT), and hear from the Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development (MLITSD) about key legislative requirements, including the duty to establish protocols for summoning immediate assistance and the obligation to inform workers of the risk posed by individuals with a known history of violence.

Course Content

  • How to identify behaviours linked to an increased risk of violence
  • How to recognize signs of escalation
  • How to apply practical de-escalation techniques
  • How to integrate triggers and assessment findings into individualized care planning
  • Strategies for communicating risk while minimizing actual or perceived stigma
