This 2-day Distance Learning course covers the second part of the training required for you to be a certified member of a workplace Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) by addressing significant hazards and issues specific to your work environment. Combined with Part One, this virtual instructor-led training leads to certification under the Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development’s guidelines.
Course Content
In this course, you will learn:
•The relevant legislation, standards and guidelines
•At least 6 specific workplace hazards particular to your work environment and their potential to cause injury or illness (i.e. musculoskeletal disorders, chemical agents, workplace violence and harassment, slips, trips and falls, psychological hazards, electrical hazards)
•How to effectively recognize, assess, control and evaluate workplace hazards
•How to prepare and complete an action plan
Who should take this course?
Applicable to all municipal sector workers, this mandatory course is relevant to all Ontario workplaces.
JHSC members who want to become certified, regardless of any previous experience in health and safety. Workplaces that regularly have 20 or more employees must ensure at least two personnel have completed JHSC Certification training.
